Artificial Intelligence has recently boomed in usage due to the sudden advancement brought about by new model architectures such as Transformers and Latent Diffusion Models, training techniques such as Generative Pre-Training, and ever-growing datasets. However, this explosion of usage has mostly been concentrated in the purely digital realm and has been slow to make it to items which physically interact with our world. Smart objects which can operate in very dynamic and varied spaces, such as households, present a new and exciting space of development. In this talk, we will explore what goes into developing smart robots for the home environment; the challenges that we encounter and how A.I. helps overcome those challenges.
